If it weren't for taxes, most of us would be rich by now, or at least much better off. Let's take a look at what we pay
Federal income tax 30-40%
FICA tax (about 7%)
Medicare tax (about 1.5%)
Sales Tax (3-11%)
Real Estate Tax (maybe another 5-10%)
Other property taxes (cars in some states)
State income tax (10% in some states)

Add all these taxes up and see how much of a paycheck you have left?

We are being robbed by the IRS and Bush Administration to line the pocket books of Bush's friends (ie. Cheney and other defense contractors). That is the reason why we are poor. Federal income tax is not being paid to support schools. Our schools are supported by real estate taxes. Our roads are supported by state taxes. The federal income tax is used to rob and keep the middle class in slavery. The money goes into financing the rich, such as Cheney, to make them richer.
